This work is an exploration of performance within the digital age. The video features a Pinocchio-esque character reciting a poem while trapped and controlled by the video format. The footage and imagery within the video imply a relationship between the character, an outside world, and the viewer. This is communicated by the camera’s gaze, stock imagery and stuttered editing. The piece was shot with consumer webcams and phone cameras, creating an uncomfortable relationship between the commonality of the aesthetic of the video and the emotional toil of the character.
